Melaleaca Going Green

splash_logo.gifecolibria was enlisted to help the Australian Melaleuca operation to become greener. Recycling, water, lighting, power, paper, heating, cooling, transport, plants, cleaning products and electromagnetic fields were all considered.


Melaleuca manufactures and distributes nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal care, facial care, home hygiene, and other products. In addition to the United States and Canada, Melaleuca has expanded its markets internationally, with operations now running in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Korea, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

An environmental certificate was issued to acknowledge all of the green and healthy initiatives implemented by Diskin Life.

Areas of concern were identified and a report was compiled. Wherever Melaleuca required changes to be made ecolibria ensured that these changes were implemented in the simplest and most cost effective manner.

ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATE MELALEUCA - CAMPBELLFIELD

The following environmental and health initiatives have been implemented at Melaleuca - Campbellfield

All cardboard waste is recycled. It is crushed and bailed on site and then picked up by Visy for recycling.

All office waste paper is recycled through Visy.

All plastic pallet wrap is recycled through Visy.

All drinking water is filtered on site. Filtered/Spring water is not delivered.

All aluminium cans and plastic bottles are recycled through the local council.

All cleaning products utilised on site are from the natural Melaleuca product range.

The cleaning methods are environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Micro fibre cloths and filtered water is all that is used to clean surfaces.

Lights are switched off in the warehouse when natural lighting is sufficient.

Globes/Lamps are being changed over to more energy efficient alternatives.

All old fluorescent tubes are recycled through Advanced Recycling Australasia to avoid the mercury content from entering the environment. The replacement tubes will be mercury free.

Staff use glasses for drinking water and the public are supplied with 100% biodegradable cups. No plastic cups are utilised.

Invoices and company publications are being changed to EMAS and ecological ISO – 14001 certified paper stock suppliers.

All general office printing and copying paper is part locally sourced recycled stock and part ethically sourced, from suppliers with ecological ISO – 14001 certification.

Incoming paper mail is utilised for note and message pads or recycled through Visy.

All used printer and copier cartridges are recycled through Planet Ark.

Ecologically sound, biodegradable plant based fill material is used in product packaging.

Gas powered forklift is used in the warehouse.

electromagnetic field readings were taken throughout the Centre and these readings were taken into account when designing the indoor space, to ensure that any occupant’s exposure to electromagnetic fields is absolutely minimised.

No wireless technology is utilised at Melaleuca - Campbellfield.
