This section details some of the environmental and Building Biology principles that have been implemented at ecolibria. Transport, water, air quality, paper, wireless technology, power, ventilation, cleaning and personal care products are discussed.

Transport

Due to the amount of site visits and gear that is required to becarried, it is not viable for us to utilise public transport. Thevehicle chosen by ecolibria is the Peugeot 307 HDI Touring (1.6 manual)diesel. This vehicle runs on 4.9 litres of fuel per 100 km and has aparticulate filter incorporated into the exhaust system. We use 100% Biodiesel that is made mainly from locally sourced Canola oil.

Paper.

All professionally printed matter is done through a printer that meets the Australian Ecolabel program under standard AFLA 20. Waterless printing on 100% locally sourced and produced recycled paper is utilised. Invoicing is done electronically whenever possible and all incoming mail and paper is used as notepads or recycled through the local council. All reports are printed on both sides of the page and only locally sourced recycled paper stock is utilised.

Wireless Technology

No wireless technology is utilised at ecolibria. All phones are corded and wireless internet will never be implemented.

Water

A Grander water purification unit has been fitted to the water mains. This ensures that all water to the property is revitalised, purified and energised. When visiting sites grander rejuvenated water is always taken in glass bottles and no bottled water is purchased.

Cleaning and personal care products

All products utilised are sourced from the Biometics range which ensures that products are ethically sourced, environmentally sound, organic, highly beneficial and actually work.

Air quality and ventilation

At ecolibria the only form of air conditioning is the natural sea breezes that are utilised to cool the building whenever required. This is done regularly to ensure good air exchange and naturally ionised air. The indoor air temperature is never above 19 Degrees Celsius in winter and relative humidity is naturally controlled and maintained between 45 -55%. Many indoor plants provide natural air filtration, relative humidity equalisation and positive psychological and aesthetic benefits. Thermal mass is used to capture all of the sunlights warmth and release it into the indoor environment when needed. The vacuum cleaner is fitted with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate air filter) filter and general surface cleaning is done with microfibre cloths and water. No shoes are allowed indoors and this helps to prevent many pollutants from entering the indoor environment as well as minimising electrostatic.

Power

Power usage is minimised through various means and 100% of all the electricity used is purchased from an accredited Green power provider. The power is sourced from 100% Biomass. The accredited green power station is in fact a dump site that prevents methane greenhouse gases from polluting the environment and utilises these gases to produce power.
