WHO Classify Wireless Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Radiation as possibly Carcinogenic

23rd June 2011

On 31st May 2011, The World Health Organisation ( WHO ) / International Agency for Research on Cancer ( IARC ) classified radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer1, associated with wireless phone use.

It is important to realise that the link associated with radiofrequency electromagnetic field / electromagnetic energy exposure and cancer does not just refer to the use of mobile phones.

Essentially this study links all radiofrequency radiation exposure as possibly carcinogenic to humans. This is far more reaching than mobile phone use alone. There has been extensive media coverage on the health effects of mobile phone use but we need to be made aware of the fact that the same wireless technology is being increasingly utilised in our day to day work and home activities such as cordless phones, digital baby monitors, wireless internet, wi-fi, some RF remote controls, wireless headsets, smart meters, cell phone towers, radar, transmission of signals for radio, television and wireless telecommunication etc. Is enough emphasis being placed on the long term health effects of all this wireless modern technology as opposed to just the use of mobile phones ?

Pregnant women, infants and young children today are exposed to more radiofrequency electromagnetic fields than any previous generation.

Channel 7's Today Tonight - All New Safe Drinking Bottles

24 September 2009

Today Tonight ran a story on the potential toxicity of plastic drinking bottles. A link to our website was provided as we have recently introduced stainless steel sippy cups, stainless steel kids water bottles, glass baby bottles, stainless steel adult water bottles and non leaching plastic drink bottles.

Plasticisers like phthalates are common in most types of plastic. Bisphenol A has been linked to various adverse health effects and is known to leach from many plastics as well as the inner linings of alluminium and stainless steel bottles.

Ecolibria have had non leaching plastic safe-t-bottles available for some time now but have only just received stock of the glass and stainless steel options. Strict  independently certified European Union ( EU ) standard testing has been conducted on the bottles to ensure that there is no leaching of any type of phthalates, Bisphenol A or heavy metals. The stainless steel bottles have no plastic inner linings and are simply polished stainless steel.

Any plastic parts are Bisphenol A free. It has taken years of research and hard work to finally make these bottles available in Australia.

Please visit our green online shop.

Some of the bottles are so new that they have not been photographed yet but are still available for purchase.

Simply contact us if you have any queries and we will be able to supply you with whatever you require.

Air Purifier - Preventing the Spread of the Swine Flu Virus

An indoor air purifier during winter is always recommended as doors and windows are closed and very little fresh air exchange takes place. Viruses are tiny and are able to penetrate through most HEPA air filters.

Specific air filtration media and systems are required to be able to filter and destroy viruses that can easily remain in our breathing zone for hours. The recent spread of the Swine Flu virus is yet another reason to ensure indoor air purification.

Ecolibria has an air filter that is capable of purifying the indoor air during the winter months when it is most needed.

Green Cleaning Products for Commercial Buildings

Many councils and commercial buildings are finally looking at ways in which they clean and the cleaning products they use. Ecolibria are now helping to replace the chemical laden coloured liquid soap commonly found in the bathrooms of commercial buildings. Toilet and floor cleaners are being replaced with locally made cleaning products that contain ethically sourced and extracted ingredients.

For the first time in Australia cleaning products for which every ingredient's extraction and processing method has been scrutinised, is available for commercial buildings and will soon be available domestically too.

100% recycled toilet paper made from 100% locally sourced post consumer office waste paper is also being introduced.
